Nursing Day

May 12 is observed as International Nurses’ Day across the world to honour the services of nurses. It is the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the English social reformer, statistician and founder of modern nursing. She was also known as Lady with the Lamp. She was the founder of modern nursing and was a British social reformer and statistician.

The theme for this year’s Nurses’ Day is “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health”. Many hospitals across the world are observing International Nurses Week from May 6 to 12. As part of it, MPM Hospital, Jagdalpur also celebrated the International Nurses Day on this day a programme was arranged for the nurses of the hospital. The programme was arranged in two parts for the different staff looking to their shift timing. Dr. Anju Vishvan Chhatissgarh State Coordinator for WHO – Malaria Eradication Programme was the guest for the function. While addressing the programme she congratulated all the staff nurse faculty for their selfless service and care that you provide to the patients, she also said that you are the one who remains in-front of the human since his / her birth to death. On this occasion Rev. Fr. Tom Thomas Arackal CMI Director MPM hospital, Rev. Fr. Jimmy Jacob Asst. Director, Rev Sr. Jancy Joseph Administrator and all the nursing staff were present. To remember this day a small token of love and appreciation from the management was presented to the entire nursing staff.
